Get Ready Bullhead - Busy Spring Season

A busy spring tourist season is already under way in Bullhead City, with no signs in sight of a slowdown. “Looking at all the events scheduled from now through the end of May, we might be in store for the biggest spring season we’ve ever had,” said City Manager Toby Cotter. “It’s important for our local businesses to be aware and prepare for all of the visitors we are expecting.”

This weekend Bullhead City welcomes high school softball athletes from across the southwest for the 27th Annual Mohave High School Dave Kopps Tournament of Champions. Forty-four softball teams comprising many of the nations best athletes will be bringing their coaches, family, and supporters to Bullhead City. “The team that wins this tournament will likely enter the softball season as the number one ranked team in the nation,” Cotter said. “It’s a big tournament, and it’s just one event happening this weekend.” The Paul Mauer Shows Carnival will also be in town in Gary Keith Park both this weekend and next weekend. “We’ll have at least one notable sports tournament in our parks almost every weekend between now and the end of May,” said Parks and Recreation Superintendent David Heath. “Some weekends we have two or three tournaments happening simultaneously.” Sports tourism has become a staple of Bullhead City’s economy. Notable upcoming tournaments this season include the Senior Softball 40s Spring World Championship and the River Daze American Youth Soccer Organization tournament. In addition to the sports tournaments, the City’s inaugural Laughlin Bullhead Airshow will take place April 1, bringing enthusiasts from around the tristate to delight in numerous live aerobatic performances, unique static displays, food, drinks and more at the Laughlin Bullhead Airport. “We’re working with Laughlin Bullhead International Airport, Laughlin Tourism Commission, Laughlin Chamber of Commerce, Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce, Arizona Office of Tourism, Travel Nevada, our presenting sponsor Findlay Motors, and lead sponsor DOT foods to bring an amazing airshow to Bullhead City,” said sponsorship coordinator Jackie Jensen. “Visit laughlinbullheadairshow.com to learn more about this awesome upcoming event.” Other notable events coming to the tri-state over the next few months include the Rotary Club of Bullhead City’s 72nd annual Burro Barbeque, Vegas Shows Inflatable Amusement Park, the Bullhead River Run, and Laughlin concerts including Dierks Bentley, Brooks and Dunn, Lady A, and Journey. “We typically have about thirty-five to forty thousand cars a day on the highway,” said Cotter. “Some of these weekends we could see that number increase to fifty to sixty thousand cars a day. We Encourage all local businesses to be ready for those weekend surges. It’s an opportunity to showcase the best of Bullhead City.” Mackenzie Covert | Public Information Officer Public Information | City of Bullhead
